Turkish Agriculture Minister Faruk Celik announced estimated 2016 Turkish Hazelnut Crop as 468,000 tonnes.

Expected crop size down 28 percent compared to last year’s 646,000 tons due to seasonality and also weather conditions. Currently, hazelnut market is stable but with very little quantity on offer despite the 140,000 – 150,000 in-shell tons surplus of the 2015 crop that remains.

As you may remember, farmers were not happy with the low price levels in the market for old crop and now they are looking forward to see market going up.  We see that small quantity offers are strongly connected with the expectations of price increase for new hazelnut crop.
